Fish Tank Heater Not Working?

The orange light shows, and it has a nob with + and - when it turn it to - the light turns off. When i put it towards + it turns on. But it doesn’t heat up at all, what could be wrong? the fish are dieing
its middle of night, i cant lol any ideas
