Breeding Betta, Sci club project?

Ok we had this yelowish mostly Purple Male Betta name Amathyist. We notice in his 20 gal take he was making a very large bubble nest when we gotten a female and was place next to his tank, which now keeping her seprate. Far as I'm who cares for the club pets, i need to know what should i and my Club members feed them as of being seprate? I give Amphy betta pellets with color enhanser, same for the female but as flakes. Our Advisor has bread Bettas before but shes ask us to look up some helpful information so we all understand what will go on. Using Google is confusing cause it gives me alot of things and yes some are helpful but it like jiberish to me. I ask Betta Breeders for Web sites with some Pictures or your advice, Please keep it Polite and short but to the point. I am Pulling this up on my school compt system.

-we did have a problem before of our female was put in Amathyist tank by accident but we have her in her own lil containor again.
